1-21 September, 2023, the Government of Vanuatu conducted the largest nationwide coral reef expedition across all 6 provinces of Vanuatu. This expedition gathered information about the status of coral reefs across Vanuatu’s waters.

The expedition was completed by a team of local and international scientists diving each day to collect information on coral reef health, fish and invertebrates, and water quality.

Information collected will provide an improved understanding of Vanuatu's coral reefs and will help inform the best way to manage, protect, and sustainably use Vanuatu's coral reefs.
